This past March I took engagement pictures for this sweet couple, Laura and Andrew! As we walked down wooded paths through a park, they told me their story. The summer after they had first briefly met, they found themselves attending the same church and serving in several of the same ministries together. They see God's hand in orchestrating this, as it was entirely unplanned! As they worked together, they began to notice each other, admire each other's heart for serving the Lord, and find similarities of purpose in their lives. They developed a genuine friendship that easily blossomed into a deeper relationship later that year, when they began to pursue the idea of marriage. One summer evening, after a surprise picnic date that Andrew had painstakingly prepared, he asked Laura to be his wife, and she happily said yes!
They entered into their engagement knowing that they would spend most of it on opposite sides of the world. Andrew left on a missions trip to South Sudan a week after they were engaged, and he spent nine months there while Laura was finishing her degree and student teaching in Indiana. Their contact during these months was limited, and often complicated by time differences and poor internet connections. Having such inconsistent communication during this time was a true challenge, but it made their reunion the following spring that much sweeter. I took these pictures soon after Andrew arrived back in the U.S., and I think you can see just how happy they were to be back together! I cannot wait for their wedding!
